In 2022, the Ibstock Group set out ambitious targets for sustainability and innovation in its ESG 2030 Strategy.
One of the strategy's pillars, "Manufacturing Materials for Life," focuses on product innovation, dematerialisation, and circularity.
As part of this commitment, Ibstock partnered with Sheffield Hallam University's Materials and Engineering Research Institute in a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) funded by Innovate UK.
The research aimed to replace higher-carbon processes, used when manufacturing some multi-coloured bricks, with waste materials from industry.
We are delighted with the initial findings of this project, which has the potential to reduce CO2 emissions from the existing process by 30 -50% and divert around 25,000 tonnes of waste from landfill! Download the full article here: UPDATE ARTICLE - Replacement Project - December 2024
