Being part of the rail industry's evolution is something we’re incredibly proud of at Ibstock. That’s why exhibiting at Rail Live 2025, the UK’s premier rail exhibition was a real highlight for our Anderton team. With over 7,000 professionals in attendance, it was the perfect opportunity to showcase our products, connect with industry peers, and contribute to vital conversations shaping the future of UK rail.
Held in a unique, real railway environment, Rail Live offered an excellent setting for both delegates and exhibitors to explore the latest in rail technology, safety, and sustainability. For us, it was a chance to showcase our commitment to supporting the UK’s rail sector and highlight some of the exciting product developments we have made.
At our stand, we presented our wide range of precast concrete products, each designed to meet the UK rail sector’s evolving needs, including:
Anderton C/1 Cable Troughing: developed in partnership with Network Rail, our concrete cable troughs now weigh under 25kg (down from 38kg) thanks to a combination of product reengineering and reduced-carbon concrete.
Anderton Platform Copers: we are proud to have developed reduced carbon platform solutions in conjunction with Network Rail, to help the rail sector work towards carbon reduction targets.
Anderton Retaining Wall Systems: ideal for rail embankments and infrastructure support. Stepoc retaining wall blocks is a solution that is quick and cost effective to construct, whilst Keystone retaining wall systems offer soil reinforcement solutions for larger structures.
Anderton Signal Bases: With off the shelf and bespoke options available, our Signal Bases help to support reliable signalling infrastructure.
Lineworx Drainage Channels: this offers a solution for congested infrastructure where traditional pipes cannot be considered. This system provides substantial capacity in limited space, making it an ideal choice.
Architectural Masonry: our range provides decorative concrete facing blocks and specials, which offer a modern, cost-effective building solution. In rail, architectural masonry can be used in both platforms and stations, or any type of building structure within the estate.
One of the standout themes at this year’s Rail Live was sustainability; a goal that’s becoming ever more important to rail strategy. At Ibstock, we’re actively rising to that challenge. As the sole supplier of concrete cable troughs and lids to Network Rail, we’ve worked closely with them to reduce both the weight and embodied carbon of this critical product. The result is a trough and lid that’s lighter and more sustainable, all without compromising on performance or durability.
Looking Ahead
Rail Live 2025 made one thing clear: meaningful collaboration and innovation is crucial. From reducing carbon emissions to enhancing safety and efficiency, every improvement counts. At Ibstock we are committed to continuing this journey, developing new and innovative products that support the sector's goals while delivering the quality we’re known for.
As always, it was inspiring to meet so many like-minded professionals who share our passion for building a better-connected, more sustainable rail network. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our stand, we look forward to continuing the conversation and working together to shape the future of UK rail.
