Gravel Boards, which are placed under garden fence panels to lift them off of ground level, are an essential product of Ibstock. They’re available in a variety of sizes, making it easy to fit them into any fence structure. Their practical use
As stated above, gravel boards are placed underneath fence panels, and in between each post. This is done to prevent wooden panels from experiencing significant premature rot by acting as a protective barrier from the ground. It also makes your fence more durable, given that it provides your panels with a sturdier base. In turn, both of these uses mean that your garden fence should retain a longer life cycle.
The types
There are two types of concrete Gravel Board. These are Smoothcast boards, and Recessed barriers. The differences between the two are largely aesthetical, but it’s important to consider which one you’d want to use in your fence project.
Why concrete Gravel Boards are the better option
Gravel Boards are usually made out of either concrete or timber; however, we believe that the former material is far superior. This is because concrete lasts far longer and is essentially maintenance-free. Concrete acts as a stronger foundation for your fence panels, as it’s sturdier and more durable in severe weather. Moreover, it’ll prevent rot for longer as, unlike timber, it won’t absorb water. Subsequently, concrete gravel boards have the added benefit of better long-term value. Your fence as a whole will therefore maintain its strength far more efficiently, especially if it’s also fitted with concrete posts!
